Report from Editor-in Chief of Microcirculation

Microcirculation has entered its 7th year as the official journal of the MCS. This year marks the appearance of the journal as a bimonthly publication. The 1999 statistics reveal that the acceptance rate for all manuscripts submitted to the journal remains at approximately 40%. Maintaining (or lowering) this acceptance rate in the face of a 50% increase in the number of issues published per year will require an increase in the number of manuscripts submitted to the journal. The MCS members are encouraged to support and strengthen the journal by submitting their best work for publication. There are some new features of the journal that should enhance its value to MCS members. Access to the online version of Microcirculation will be available to all active (dues paying) regular and associate members of the Society (at no extra cost), later this year. Beginning in 2001, one of the six annual issues of the journal will be devoted to a special "hot" topic in the field of microvascular research. An industry-sponsored issue dealing with the "microcirculation and chronic venous insufficiency" is also under development. MCS members who wish to serve as guest editor for either a special topics or industry-sponsored issue of the journal should contact the editorial office.
