This annual award is intended for a graduate student, Ph.D., or M.D. in the early stages of a research career. The purpose of the award is to encourage excellence in microcirculatory research by new, young investigators. Eligibility for this award is limited to graduate students and recent graduates, defined as those within 3 years after having received a Ph.D., or within 3 years following completion of a first residency after having received an M.D. The award consists of a certificate and $1,000.

To qualify for this award, applicants must be first author on an abstract submitted for presentation at the annual meeting of the MCS and must submit a first-authored manuscript that can be considered for publication in Microcirculation. Applicants should also forward a letter of recommendation from their mentor. Application materials should be submitted to the Chairman of the Awards Committee, Dr. Alison Fox-Robichaud at afoxrob@mcmaster.ca. Application materials are due prior to December 1st of the year preceding the award.

The award will be presented at the banquet of the annual meeting of the MCS. While encouraged, membership in the MCS is not a requirement. Individuals may only receive this award one time.
